McLean, VA (April 1, 2009) – AppTek, a leader in human language technology (HLT), today announced the availability of its complete hybrid machine translation (HMT) system for both Windows server and 32-bit Windows for PC. Released last month as the industry’s first hybrid machine translation software, AppTek’s TranSphere^TM HMT system is a full integration of statistical and rule-based methodologies designed to assist linguists, translators and analysts in achieving greater productivity and higher quality results in a timely and cost effective manner.

In addition to Windows compatibility, the benefits of AppTek’s hybrid approach to machine translation (MT) are also available for Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian. The server/client solution provides greater flexibility than a stand-alone workstation. The client environment can be ported to multiple platforms without impacting the server application. This provides the capability to tailor the user environment to a particular platform, using all of the commercially available products and tools that are inherent to that platform.  

AppTek’s TranSphere HMT solution provides a full integration of both Machine Translation methodologies, rather than simply adding rules to the statistical system or a minor statistical module to the rule-based engine. Using the company’s statistical MT platform and augmenting it with its rich rule-based MT engine, AppTek’s TranSphere HMT solution is pushing state-of-the-art MT design to the next level. The three key translation quality parameters of MT systems - fluency, informativeness, and adequacy – are now supported in one comprehensive system with greater performance, quality and accuracy.
